Urchin

Harris Dickinson might be the most exciting new auteur since the Safdie Brothers. The future of British social realism looks promising thanks to his debut--knows his Ken Loach and Mike Leigh inside and out but doesn’t carbon-copy what came before. ” Tomris Laffly Elle

The feature directorial debut from actor-filmmaker Harris Dickinson, Urchin is a raw, compassionate portrait of life on the margins. Frank Dillane gives a magnetic lead performance as Mike, a homeless man in London trapped in cycles of loss, addiction, and self-destruction. As he fights to piece his life back together ajar between prison, rehab, work, and fragile hope the film refuses easy redemption while insisting on the humanity that persists even in desperation.

With supporting turns from Megan Northam, Amr Waked, Karyna Khymchuk, and Shonagh Marie, Dickinson weaves moments of unexpected warmth, dark humour, and surreal edges into the gritty realism.
