Claptrap

A helter-skelter ob-doc following the longest music tour in Australian history. ”

There’s a lot that goes unseen and unspoken when you’re on the road. Australian rockers Kingswood are embarking on the most ambitious tour the nation has ever seen, and getting up on stage one hundred and twelve times is the easy part.

CLAPTRAP provides whatever charm and pluck can be found in the brutality of an unrelenting tour across an entire continent, in a time where musicianship is a difficult and unlucrative game.

Director and cinematographer Darcy Newton’s debut feature offers a raw, haphazard surveillance of life on the road, going far beyond those precious moments on stage where nothing matters but the music. It feels as if no moment has been left undocumented through the high and lows of this ambitious, six-month long, nationwide tour.
