Goran Stolevski’s Queer Family Portrait Bursts Onto the Screen With Equal Parts Joy and Fury ” Guy Lodge Variety

We invite you to attend the Banyule Community Health special fundraising screening of the film “Housekeeping for Beginners” directed by Goran Stolevski, from acclaimed local filmmaker Goran Stolevski (Of An Age, You Won’t Be Alone) as part of PRIDE MONTH.

It’s a story that explores the universal truths of family, both the ones we’re born into and the ones we find for ourselves. Dita never wanted to be a mother, but circumstances force her to raise her girlfriend’s two daughters; tiny troublemaker Mia and rebellious teen Vanesa. A battle of wills ensues as the three continue to butt heads and become an unlikely family that must fight to stay together.

Please arrive around 6.00pm, as the film will be screened from 6.15pm.

All funds raised will be donated to Alphabet Soup, a local community social group, auspiced by Banyule Community Health, for LGBTIQA+ people living in and around Banyule.

If people want to grab a quick bite to eat before the film, local restaurants Wolf & Swill or Greek St Food are open from 5pm and we have been advised that you can pre-order from both places. Also, Thornbury Picture House cinema have snacks available onsite, such as popcorn and choc tops,etc.
