The Iron Claw

The chest-beating, rah-rah-rah, “win at all costs” sports movie ethos gets a cold hard reality check in writer/director Sean Durkin’s sensitively drawn portrait of real-life wrestlers the Von Erich brothers. ” Luke Buckmaster Flicks

Featuring a carer best performance from Zac Efron, A24 brings this harrowing true story to our screen.

The Von Erichs were wrestling royalty in the 1980s. Brothers Kevin (Zac Efron), Kerry (Jeremy Allen White, The Bear), and David (Harris Dickinson, TRIANGLE OF SADNESS) were unstoppable in the ring and inseparable outside of it – but they were cursed. Plagued by tragedy and always under the shadow of their domineering father and coach (Holt McCallany), they spent their lives fighting for fame, glory, and immortality on the biggest stage in sports.

The story of the Von Erich family might not be the happiest of tales, but it is certainly a captivating one. Brought to life with achingly empathetic and passionate performances, particularly from Jeremy Allen White and Zac Efron, THE IRON CLAW hits like a flying elbow off the top rope.
