The Whale

Winner of multiple awards at the Venice Film Festival and already a frontrunner in the 2022 award season, Brendan Fraser gives “the performance of a lifetime” (Time Out) in director Darren Aronofsky’s drama THE WHALE.

Based on the play by Samuel D. Hunter, Fraser stars opposite Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Samantha Morton (Minority Report), Hong Chau (The Menu) and Ty Simpkins in an emotive drama of redemption. Charlie (Fraser) lives a reclusive life, estranged from him family, following a tragedy that profoundly changed his life. Regularly visited by his friend and carer Liz (Chau), the unexpected arrival of his teenage daughter Ellie (Sink) has unanticipated consequences on Charlie’s isolated existence.

Featuring a transformative comeback performance by Fraser that is expected to reward him with an Oscar nomination, Black Swan, Mother! and Requiem For A Dream director Darren Aronofsky returns to the philosophical territory that has made him one of the most striking filmmakers of his generation.
