KINOTOPIA presents Metropolis Re-Scored

KINOTOPIA presents
Metropolis + Joy Division + New Order

After sellout shows at MIFF and the Melbourne Recital Centre Kinotopia brings a new cinematic collision of old + new to TPH.

Re-scoring Metropolis with the inimitable bands Joy Division and New Order, this fresh new pairing invigorates and reimagines this quintessential silent cinema masterpiece propelling it into the 21st century.

In a futuristic city sharply divided between the working class and the city planners, the son of the city’s mastermind falls in love with a working class prophet who predicts the coming of a saviour to mediate their differences.

KINOTOPIA is a film series dedicated to brave new adventures in the silent cinema. Screening some of cinema history’s quintessential works from the dawn of the moving image, Kinotopia presents redux versions of silent films re-scored and contemporised with modern soundtracks.

The film will be preceded with a special introduction by Peter Krausz, film critic, host of the weekly film radio show Movie Metropolis, a member of FIPRESCI & former Chair of the Australian Film Critics Association.
