TPH Presents BEATS WORKING: A MUSIC DOC FESTIVAL
The Secret Origin of the Hard-Ons.
Three school kids from Western Sydney discover punk music and form a band. Together they fight racism and the music industry to become Australia’s biggest indie band larrikins. Before diversity was a buzzword, there was the Hard-Ons!

“The Most Australian Band Ever!” is the tale of Australian underground music of the era; from the independent record labels such Waterfront Records, to the alternative European tour circuit for Australian bands. The Hard-Ons have seen and done it all!

Faced with racism, obstruction and cancellation from the industry, the Hard-Ons did things their own way, reaching the fans directly with all-ages shows and non-stop touring. The Hard-Ons broke down the distinction between the ‘cool’ inner-city and the suburban kids who were looking for something different.

BEATS WORKING is a music documentary film festival curated by Thornbury Picture House and it celebrates the year’s greatest music documentaries, hand picked from the best film festivals.
