GODPLEX + Filmmaker Q&A

A visual storytelling style that is distinctly dense and complex. ” Simon Foster, Screen-Space

Unknown Pleasures presents NZ-Australian filmmaker Darcy Gladwin’s debut feature GODPLEX, a mesmerising film about a wanna-be cult leader. With a Q&A with Gladwin.

Maverick and world-travelling filmmaker (and musician and intermedia artist) Darcy Gladwin’s debut feature film GODPLEX is an ambitiously complex indie feature about an aspiring cult leader, Sachimo, who believes in “elephant consciousness”. It is in turns carnivalesque, hallucinatory, menacing, and certainly absurdist, positioning itself somewhere between satire and bohemian delight. Years in the making, this is a rare screening of a film that is genuinely quite different to anything else. Elephants will be allowed into the screening.

Presented by Unknown Pleasures, a series of screenings curated by Chris Luscri & Bill Mousoulis, featuring the best of Australian indie cinema, both new and old, with discussions with the filmmakers. LINK – www.pureshitauscinema.com/unknown_pleasures.html
