.ON. / The Kidnappers + Q&A

ON. has performances of such uninflected realism it is hard to believe that the film is fiction. ” The Captial Times (US newspaper)

Unknown Pleasures presents two gritty realistic films from New Zealand filmmakers Colin Hodson and Graham Osborne.
Q&A with Hodson and Osborne (who is travelling from Sydney). The session is programmed by Hodson.

Two gritty, compelling and edgy improvised narrative films from two of Australia’s most distinctive film figures, Colin Hodson (Melbourne) and Graham Osborne (Sydney), Kiwis who met in NYC in the ’90s, and then re-met, coincidentally, in Australia in the ’10s. .ON. is a kinetic and realistic portrait of several drug addicts in an unnamed NZ/Aus-type city, whilst The Kidnappers is a highly elliptical and tense story about an abduction, set in the Blue Mountains in NSW.

Presented by Unknown Pleasures, a series of screenings curated by Chris Luscri & Bill Mousoulis, featuring the best of Australian indie cinema, both new and old, with discussions with the filmmakers. LINK – www.pureshitauscinema.com/unknown_pleasures.html
